NJoy Joystick Control System

Complex propulsion. Simple control.

NJoy brings engines, thrusters and steering devices together under one intuitive control system, giving the navigator precise control of vessel movement from a single joystick.

Designed for both newbuilds and retrofits, NJoy combines precise manual manoeuvring with intelligent automatic functions for heading, position and speed control. Its flexible architecture allows different propulsion types and equipment from different manufacturers to work together as one integrated system.

READ BROCHURE

More than 300 vessels in operation worldwide.

With more than 300 vessels in operation, NJoy is a proven solution for yachts, workboats, ferries, passenger vessels and other vessels requiring precise and intuitive manoeuvring

Why shipowners choose NJoy

One joystick. Complete vessel control.

NJoy turns complex vessel manoeuvring into a simple command.

The navigator controls the required direction, speed and rotation from a single joystick, while NJoy automatically distributes commands between the available propulsion devices.

The result is precise, intuitive control during docking, berthing, unberthing and other low-speed manoeuvres.

Benefit

  • Intuitive vessel control
  • Easier docking and manoeuvring
  • Precise low-speed movement
  • Reduced operator workload
Freedom to choose your propulsion.

NJoy is designed to integrate different propulsion types and equipment from different manufacturers into one coordinated control system.

This gives shipowners, shipyards and naval architects greater freedom to select the propulsion equipment that best suits the vessel, including conventional propellers and rudders, tunnel thrusters, azimuth thrusters and mixed configurations.

Benefit

  • Multi-vendor integration
  • Freedom in equipment selection
  • Support for complex propulsion configurations
Flexible today. Ready for tomorrow.

Vessel requirements can change throughout their operational life.

NJoy’s flexible architecture allows the system to accommodate changes in propulsion configuration and future vessel modifications, including propulsion and thruster upgrades.

This makes NJoy particularly suitable for retrofit projects where new propulsion equipment needs to work seamlessly with existing systems.

Benefit

  • Retrofit flexibility
  • Support for propulsion upgrades
  • Adaptable system architecture
  • Longer useful system lifecycle
DP technology without unnecessary complexity

NJoy uses fast and precise control algorithms based on Navis dynamic positioning technology while remaining a joystick control system rather than a full-scale DP system.

For vessels that do not require a classed DP system, NJoy provides advanced automatic control functionality in a simpler and more cost-effective solution.

Benefit

  • Proven control technology
  • Advanced automatic functions
  • Simple operation
  • Cost-effective alternative when full DP functionality is not required
Autopilot and joystick control in one system

NJoy can be combined with the type-approved Navis Autopilot, allowing both systems to share the same control panel and sensors.

The result is a compact and integrated bridge solution with a consistent interface for autopilot and joystick control.

Benefit

  • One control panel
  • Shared sensors
  • Less bridge equipment
  • Consistent operator experience

Intelligent Control Modes

NJoy allows the navigator to select the level of control and automation required for each operation: from direct manual manoeuvring to automatic heading, position and speed control.

Joystick Manual

Direct manual control of vessel movement and rotation using the three-axis joystick.

Auto Heading + Manual Positioning

The system automatically maintains the selected vessel heading while the navigator controls vessel movement manually.

Auto Position + Auto Heading

Automatic keeping of the operator-selected vessel position and heading.

Joystick Speed

Automatic keeping of the operator-selected vessel speed vector.

ECO Positioning

Keeps the vessel within the selected operating area while automatically selecting an efficient heading against wind and/or current to minimize propulsion power consumption.

Anchor Assist and Electronic Anchor

Automatically selects an optimal heading against wind and/or current to minimize vessel yawing.

Key Features

  • Single joystick vessel control
  • Manual and automatic control modes
  • Automatic position keeping
  • Automatic heading keeping
  • Speed vector control
  • ECO positioning
  • Anchor assist
  • Thrust allocation
